From the South or the West

Exit M62 at J24 and follow A58 into HALIFAX. Take A629 Keighley Road out of HALIFAX and proceed for 2 miles towards Illingworth. Go past Morrisons supermarket on the left and continue through two sharp bends as you climb a steep hill. Turn right down Illingworth Rd opposite Hare Motors. Go past the local shops on the right and then turn immediately right down Moss Lane. Left at the end of here takes you to a school and what looks like a dead end. Turn right before the garages and we are there.

From North or East

Head towards the North of HALIFAX either through Denholme or Bradford, arriving at the junction of the A629, A644 and the B6145 (Thornton Rd) by Denholme Velvets factory. Follow the A629 south towards HALIFAX over the crest of the hill and continue past Halifax Golf Club, the Moorlands pub and Sportsman pub before entering Illingworth residential area. Pass the Fire Station on the right and turn left down Illingworth Rd opposite Hare Motors. (Then see above)

Above is the scorebox and tackle-shed. Below is the pavilion.

The main gates to the Club ground commemorate Norman Tatham and Maurice Lawton, two long-time and loyal servants of the Club.

Colin Balme, sadly no longer with us, was another who served the Club all his days. He was a long-time player and rose to become Club President.

CLUB HISTORY

The Club`s history has been superbly researched as part of the project undertaken by Peter Davies and Rob Light of Huddersfield University.
