The league are sad to learn of the death of Brian Bailey a committee member of Ilkley CC who passed away following a heart attack, it is believed.

Brian was well known throughout the League following the progress of son, Alex and the fortunes of Ilkley CC. He was a very active committee member taking on numerous responsibilities within the Club. He was also very involved in the Ilkley community taking on duties with the Ilkley Music Festival and other civic objectives. He was a talented musician and lead singer with Five Dollar Shoes – a blues group which had his two daughters, Annabel and Abigail and son, Alex as some of the group members.

The thoughts and prayers of the league are with his family and friends, at this sad time.

The Funeral will be held at Christchurch, The Grove, Ilkley on Wednesday 30th January at 11.15 am.
All welcome – The family have requested that if you attend on Wednesday, Brian would not have wanted anyone to wear Black- so bright colours only please.

The league is very sad to learn of the passing of local cricket league legend Tony Harrison, who passed away on New Year’s Eve (31.12.12).

Tony played cricket for many years at Woodhouse CC, opening the batting and bowling some ‘laws of physics-defying’ slow spin, when required. He was one of the managers of an extremely successful junior side at Alwoodley CC and a founding father of the legendary Dads Army Indoor Cricket Team.

Tony was a huge fan of all sports, a big Leeds United fan, a skier, a golfer and in later years a mean crown green bowler. He was also not averse to the odd flutter!

Tony was a big supporter of his son Steve and his grandson Ben’s sporting endeavours which brought him down to the Field of Dreams at Kirkstall on a regular basis.

He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He was a top bloke!

The thoughts and prayers of the league are with Steve, Ben and all the family, at this sad time.

The funeral will take place at Rawdon Crematorium on Tuesday 15th January at 1-00pm, with refreshments at Woodhall Hills Golf Club afterwards.

The family have extended an open invitation to anyone who wishes to attend. Family flowers only please, donations may be given to cancer research.
