December 2012

1st December 2012 – we are sad to report the pasing away of John Lamb of Skipton Cricket Club who will be sadly missed. The thoughts and prayers of all connected with the League are with his family and friends at this very sad time.

The funeral will be at Skipton Crematorium at 1:40pm on Friday 7th December.
November 2012

23rd November 2012 – we are sad to report the pasing away of Brian Freeman the Chairman of New Rover Cricket Club yesterday. Brian was a well liked and popular man in cricket circles and will be sadly missed. The thoughts and prayers of all connected with the League are with his family and friends at this very sad time.
Funeral will be held at Rawdon Crematorium on Wednesday 28th November 2012 at 10.20 a.m.

September 2012

9th September – Harden are division 2 champions.
Upper Wharfedale are relegated to division 3.
Colton are division 3 champions.
Tong Park Esholt are promoted to division 2.
North Leeds are reserve division 2 champions.
Ilkley are promoted to reserve division 1.
Horsforth are promoted to reserve division 2
Green Lane and Burley are relegated to reserve division 2.

2nd September – Steeton win 3rd XI Conference A
Ilkley win 3rd XI Conference B

Sunday 2nd September – Chappell Cup Final – Green Lane beat Adel

1st September – Guiseley are champions of reserve division 1.
North Leeds are premoted to reserve division 1.
Olicanian are relegated from Division 2.

August 2012

26th August – Collingham win Waddilove cup by 1 run

24th August – It is with great sadness that the League have learnt that John Whittaker died this morning at
St. James’ Hospital, Leeds after a long illness.   John has been connected with the League for many years,
most recently as an umpire and will be sadly missed.

The thoughts and prayers of the League are with all John’s family and friends at this sad time .

John’s funeral will be held at Rawdon Crematorium 12:20pm Monday 10th September 2012 with an invitation to
Guiseley Cricket Club for refreshments afterwards.

22nd August – The League are saddened to learn of the sudden and unexpected death of Colin Gilks
on Monday evening whilst cutting grass at home.

Colin was an active member at Tong Park Esholt and is very well known throughout the local
Leagues and nationaly for his work with both senior and junior cricket and will be sadly missed.

The thoughts and prayers of the League are with Ian and his family at this very sad time.

Colin’s funeral will be held  at Nab Wood Crematorium Bingley 11:30 a.m.  Friday 31st August 2012
with an invitation to The Club House, Fairmount Park, off Nab Wood Drive, Shipley BD18 4EJ
for refreshments afterwards.

18th August – Adel are relegated from Division 1.

19th April: The Management Committee are aware that some other Leagues have cancelled their matches over the forthcoming weekend, it has to be bourne in mind that this League has a 3rd XI playing Sundays. After much consideration it is not logistically feasible for this League to re-arrange the matches on this occasion due to numerous factors. Whilst the Management Committee wish cricket to be played reluctantly the matches for this weekend cannot be rearranged. A working party will look into this for the future with a view to bringing forward resolutions for the consideration of League Council.

March 2012

24th March, Updated 29th March: It is with great sadness that the league have learnt of the passing away on 23rd March of Tony Brook who played with Green Lane and Burley.
The thoughts and prayers of the whole League are with Pauline, Richard, David, Nick and all their families at this very sad time.
Funeral will be at 1.15 p.m. Wednesday 4th April 2012 at St. Mary’s Parish Church, Burley in Wharfedale, with an invitation to Ilkley Rugby Union Club afterwards.

26th March: It is with regret that the league have learnt of the passing away of a former league umpire Brian Harper. The League send his family and friends their condolences. There will be a celebration of his life at St. Peters Church, Addingham at 12 noon, Friday 30th March after a cremation.
