4th December

With great sadness the league have learnt of the death Life Vice President Jack Sullivan, who served for many years on the Management Committee and being President of the League from 1987 to 1990. He was a member of Menston Cricket Club. The thoughts, prayers and condolences of all connected with the League are with his wife Barbara, his family and friends at this most sad of times.

With great sadness the league have learnt of the death of former Management Committee member and Umpire Graham Parfitt. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family. Funeral will be held on Monday 17th October 2011, 10.30 a.m. at St. Aelred’s R.C. 71 Woodlands Drive, Harrogate HG2 7BE.

August 2011
27th August

Congratulations to Ben Rhydding who are promoted to Division 1 and are in a head to head fight with Steeton for the Division 2 title. Rawdon have been relegated to Division 2. Ilkely are Champions of Reserve Division 3 whilst Kirkstall are relegated to Reserve Division 2. Congratulations also go to Olicanian who have won Conference A and Adel who have won Conference B of the 3rd Team Competition.

20th August

Congratulations to Bardsey 1st XI who are promoted as champions of Division 3. Steeton 1st XI have also been promoted to Division 1 but have yet to wrap up the Title.

13th August

The first two items are settled this weekend seeing Alwoodley having to seek re-election and Hall Park 2nd XI relegated to division 3. Bardsey’s first loss of the season prevented them from securing promotion into Divison 2 for at least another week.

The funeral of former Colton 1st XI player, Chairman and Secretary Peter Eckersley will take place on Wednesday 17th August. It will be at Whitkirk Church from midday. All wishing to attend are welcome.

3rd XI records tumbled this weekend as Otley v Bilton created a run feast with 3 juniors reaching 3 figures, the first occurance of 3 centuries in a match.

Joe Braham (14) and Dom Kellett (17) from Otley also set a new 2nd wicket stand in the match with an unbroken partnership of 241.

Horsforth were shot out for 30, the lowest 3rd XI score on record and that match v Burley also has the lowest aggregate of 62-10.

June 2011

It is with great sadness that the league has learnt that former Colton Institute 1st XI player, Chairman and Secretary Peter Eckersley passed away suddenly on 14th June 2011. Peter was a successful swing bowler for Colton until the early 80’s and in later years was the driving force behind the push for the club to join the Airedale and Wharfedale Senior Cricket League in 2000.Following the end of his tenure as Chairman in 2007 he was a regular supporter at Colton games throughout all age groups. His memory will live long and he will be missed by all his friends at the club.

The weather took its first casulty of the season today with North Leeds v Horsforth 3rd XI match being abandonded with 10 overs remaining due to brilliant sunshine.

It is with great sadness that the league has learnt of the death of Ian Emmott, former player, Umpire, Secretary & Treasurer of the League Umpires Association. Our thoughts and condolences go to all his family and friends.

It is with great sadness that the league have learnt of the sudden death of stalwart Thackley CC member and league umpire Mick Kettlewell. Our sympathies are with his family and friends. His funeral is at Rawdon Cremetorium, Wednesday 13th April, 12:20pm

It is with great sadness that the league has to announce the death of Honorary Vice President Mr. Eric Thornton.
Our sypathies are with his son Bernard and his family and friends.
